Project description
Achieving Change Through Employment helps BME and migrant people into training, volunteering and employment.
The ACE project’s aim is to enable BME and migrant individuals across Wales to gain sustainable employment. The project focuses delivery of training and employment support to people to raise their participation and progression in the labour market. This includes targeting a high proportion of economically inactive BME and migrant women.
The project provides:
- Mentoring
- Peer support through volunteer participation
- Employability guidance
- Training guidance
- Transference of qualifications from abroad into UK recognised qualifications where possible
- Careers advice
- Delivery of Rapid English / fluency courses where appropriate
- Support into volunteering placements
- Support into work placements
- Advice on workers’ rights and legal requirements of employers
- Provision of opportunities to develop social networks in their communities
Geographical coverage
The project works in all areas throughout Wales
Essential eligibility criteria
Referrals to CGL ACE in West Wales and the Valleys have to be:
- From a BME or Migrant background
- Over 25 years of age
- Eligible to live & work in the UK
- a) Unemployed for over 12 months (can be claiming JSA but not on the Work programme)
OR
b) Economically inactive
Specific targets
- People into work (including self employment),
- Volunteering/ work placements
- People completing training courses.
